Torres Strait Islander Flag

The flag of the Torres Strait Islanders, the population of northeastern Australia, has official status, which was defined in the national flag law. It was designed by Bernard Namok as part of a competition in 1992 and first used on the Torres Strait Islands Cultural Festival in the same year. In 1995, the Australian Government appointed the flag to an official flag of Australia. The Iceland Coordinating Council on Thursday Iceland is the copyright of the designs.

Symbolism

The green stripes represent the country, with the blue stripe the Torres Strait, which separates Australia from New Guinea. The two black stripes symbolize the islanders themselves

In the center of the flag is white in the headdress of a dancer, a so-called Dhari, represented as an icon for all islanders. The five-pointed star below represents the five island groups, and also represents a star as important Navigatonshilfe to sea. The color is white to express peace.

The blue is defined as Pantone 301 value and the green value as Pantone 3288.
