Torricelli (crater)

30.87

Torricelli is an impact crater on the lunar front side in the plane of the sinus Asperitatis, north of the crater Theophilus and south of Maskelyne. The irregularly shaped crater lies within the own side crater Torricelli R, which is, however, only obtained in trace amounts.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Italian physicist and mathematician Evangelista Torricelli.
