Toru Kamikawa

Tōru Kamikawa (Jap.上 川 彻, Kamikawa Tōru, born June 8, 1963 in Kagoshima, Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan) is a Japanese professional football referee. He lives in Hiroshima.

In 1994 he directed his first game in the Japanese J. League. On January 1, 1998, he was nominated for the FIFA Referees and on 30 November he directed his first international match, Hong Kong against Oman. He was employed at the Asian Cup in 2000 in Lebanon and in other FIFA events.

On 31 March 2006 he was nominated with 22 other referees for the Football World Cup 2006 in Germany, where his first assignment was the group match on June 9, the group A match between Poland and Ecuador. Kamikawa also led the match England against Trinidad and Tobago and the 3rd place match between Germany and Portugal.

He is also the first professional referee, who has led a World Cup game.

Currently Kamikawa is a member of the FIFA Referees Committee, which among other things the referee of the World Cup matches names.
