Toston Bridge

The Toston Bridge is a steel bridge in the United States. Guides you through the place Toston (Montana ) over the Missouri River. It was built in the years 1919/20, by the Security Bridge Company on behalf of the Montana State Highway Commission (SHC ).

The bridge is an excellent example of a multi-lobed, riveted truss bridge. It is exemplary of the draft standard by which emerged from the SHC 1915-1941 under a bridge program numerous objects. She opened the farmers and ranchers who lived on the west side of the Missouri, access to the train station of the Northern Pacific Railway in Toston and therefore is regarded as a symbol for the agricultural development of the upper Missouritals.

Until the mid- 1950s led all traffic from U.S. Highway 10 North across the bridge. For the new U.S. Highway 287, a second bridge was built in 1955 then. Since then flows over the Toston Bridge only local traffic.

In July 2005, the bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places ( National Register 05.00072 million ).
