Totka Petrova

Totka Petrova ( Bulgarian Тотка Петрова, English transcription Totka Petrova, . Born December 17, 1956 in Yambol ) is a retired Bulgarian middle distance runner.

In 1977 she won the 800m silver at the Indoor Athletics Championships in San Sebastian and was victorious at the Universiade both about 800 m as well as about 1500 m and the Athletics World Cup in Dusseldorf than 800 m.

1978 was followed by another silver medal at the European Indoor Championships in Milan. In the summer she took at the European Athletics Championships in Prague Bronze 1500 m and was fourth on 800 m.

At the Athletics World Cup 1979 in Montreal, she came above 1500 m the finish line first, but was disqualified when it was discovered that she had recently been tested positive for anabolic steroids in the Balkans games.

The resulting ban for this violation of the doping rules has been reduced from 18 to eight months, so that she could start in Moscow at the Olympic Games in 1980. However, it was eliminated in the semifinals over 800 m and 1500 m in the flow.

Also at the World Athletics Championships 1983 in Helsinki she failed more than 1500 m in the flow and about 800 m in the semifinals.

Three times she was Bulgarian champion in the 800 m ( 1977, 1978, 1983), three times more than 1500 m ( 1977, 1979, 1983) and once over 400 m ( 1978). National titles in the hall she took in 1977 and 1978 over 800 m and 1983 m in 1500.
