Tour of Britain
The Tour of Britain is a cycle race through the UK.
The stage race was held for the first time in 2004 and has been increasing since 2005, participated in the UCI Europe Tour. It is classified in the UCI category 2.1. At the race, national teams from Scotland, Wales and Ireland are allowed to participate, an English team is controversial legally not allowed. Is organized by the race of the British Cycling Federation.
History

Tour of Britain 2004
The first edition of the Tour of Britain took place in late September for five days. At that time, the race was still classified in category 2.3.
The high point of the tour with a 72 -kilometer criterion through London. Tens of thousands of spectators saw a long breakaway by local rider Bradley Wiggins. On the last lap he was captured from the field and Enrico Degano of Team Barloworld won the bunch sprint. The Colombian Mauricio Ardila took the overall victory.
Tour of Britain 2005
The second edition was held in 2005 in six stages. Was started on 30 August in Glasgow and target was on 4 September in London.
Overall winner was Nick Nuyens.
Tour of Britain 2006
The Tour of Britain 2006 took place from 29 August to 3 September and ran through 6 stages from Glasgow to London.
