Tracy Lawrence

Tracy Lawrence ( born January 27, 1968 in Atlanta, Texas) is an American country singer.

Life

Lawrence grew up in a large family in rural Arkansas. He sang in the church choir and learned to play the guitar. In 1988, he broke off his college studies to enter as the lead singer in a band. Two years later he moved to Nashville to gain a foothold in the local music scene. As an unknown young musicians he had to initially keep up with odd jobs. Through successful participation in talent contests he gained additional income. After a few months he received an engagement at a local radio show. A little later he graduated with the Atlantic label from a recording contract.

Career

In the first months of 1991, his debut album was produced. On May 31, 1991 Lawrence was attacked in the company of an acquaintance of three young muggers and shot four times.
