Transatlantyk – Poznań International Film and Music Festival

Transatlantyk, also Transatlantyk Poznan International Film and Music Festival called, is an international film and music festival, the first in August 2011 in the Polish city of Poznan ( Polish Poznań) was organized. Various awards will be presented at the festival with a closing gala, including the Transatlantyk Glocal Hero Award and the Paderewski Award for outstanding artists, the Chopin Award for the discovery of the year, and the film composer added thought Young Composer Awards prices and Instant Composer of the Year.

Founder and director of the festival is the Polish composer and Oscar winner Jan AP Kaczmarek.

Film Festival

Main venue of the festival is the multiplex cinema in the center of Poznan, Poland's first multiplex cinema. The films are assigned to different sections, these include " Transatlantyk Panorama", presented in the American films that were either already won an award or celebrate its premiere at the festival. Other sections set their focus on Germany ( " 10 German Voices" ), Scandinavia ("New Scandinavian Cinema" ), North Africa ( "Arab Revolutions Before and Now" ), or culinary cinema ( "Culinary Cinema" ) modeled after the Berlinale. Under the heading "B Movies: Passion and Nausea" low-budget movies of Hollywood productions of the 1950s are shown. Documentaries are divided into four different subject areas: social engagement ( " Transatlantyk Docs" ), ecology ( " Transatlantyk Eco" ), music, concert footage and art events ( " Transatlantyk kind ") and the section " Transatlantyk Spotlight" for certain regions dedicated.

Music Festival

The spectrum of the music festivals ranging from symphony concerts to performances of electronic dance music. In addition, two international competitions are held: one for film music (" Transatlantyk movie Music Competition "), whose winning premium is $ 20,000, and one for piano compositions in front of a live audience ( " Transatlantyk Instant Composition Contest "), which will be awarded $ 10,000.

First Edition 2011

In the first issue around 36,000 tickets were sold for the 300 pre-and performances. The Transatlantyk Glocal Hero Award received Elżbieta and Krzysztof Penderecki. Among the films shown there were 40 171 first performances in Poland. The cost of the nine -day event, amounted to around 5.5 million zloty. 2160 people took part in workshops and seminars.

The Audience Award Transatlantyk Audience Award went to the U.S. Romance For Lovers Only by Marc and Michael Polish. The title " Transatlantyk Young Composer" of 2011 was the 26 -year-old television composer Matthis Kleboom from the Netherlands. The Chopin Award with 20,000 PLN victorious premium won the Polish violinist Agata Szymczewska, during the 30 -year-old Polish composer Dawid Rudnicki the competition Transatlantyk Instant Composition Contest won.

Second Edition 2012

In the second edition of 2012, about 41,000 tickets were sold. To the best film of the festival 's documentary The House I Live In was selected by Eugene Jarecki of Internet users. For the grand prize, Best Film Music ( Transatlantyk movie Music Competition ), the Swedish film composer Daniel Bejbom was awarded $ 20,000.
