Transfiguration Cathedral, Cluj-Napoca

The Cluj Minoritenkirche in Cluj-Napoca ( Cluj dt ) was built in the years 1775-1779 according to the plans of the Swabian architect Johann Eberhard Blue Man in a Baroque style. The founder of the church was Erzherzögin Maria Theresia in their capacity as Grand Duchess of Transylvania. 1924 gave Pope Pius XI. the church and monastery buildings the Uniate Diocese of Cluj- Gherla and since 1930 the former Minoritenkirche serves as a cathedral of the Diocese of Cluj- Gherla.

The patronage of the church is the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord.

The name plates of the saints on the Art Nouveau stained glass windows were removed after the demise of the 20th century, as the figures show saints from the Latin tradition, with particular reference to Hungary.
