Transport in Montenegro
The national road and motorway network in Montenegro is one of the youngest in Europe and is currently under construction.
General
Planning
Currently there are three highways in Montenegro and two motorway-like roads ( Brza saobraćajnica to German expressway ) in the planning, construction or partially in operation.
Numbering
To date corresponds to the numbering of the Montenegrin national roads ( Magistralni put, literally main street ) nor the old numbering from the times of Yugoslavia. Therefore, the number assignment is also very inconsistent with large jumps between the numbers. It is assumed that the number assignment is revised with the construction of new roads and the rehabilitation of the existing network. Currently, however, no concrete plans for this are known.
No numbers were also being planned for the motorways and similar roads ( highways ), nor forgiven.
Toll
No fees such as tolls or vignette are generally charged for the national roads. Exception is the toll Sozina tunnel.
From 15 July 2008 to 31 December 2011, an environmental fee Eko Naknada was due in the form of a vignette. The vignette for this de facto toll was valid for 12 months from the date of purchase and cost, for example, for cars 10 euros.
It is likely, however, that for the as yet unbuilt highways and expressways also tolls are levied, as the cost of construction due to the topography of Montenegro are very high.
List of National Roads
The M 18 was already partially developed between Nikšić and Podgorica to an expressway. This expansion will be completed in the near future and the long term the remaining distance from Nikšić to BiH border will also be expanded accordingly ( expressway Plužine -Podgorica ).
The M 2 ( from the Croatian border to Petrovac ) and then M 2-4 should also be expanded to an expressway or realigned in large parts ( expressway Herceg Novi Ulcinj ). The Verige Bridge to be part of this new expressway.

- Autoput Grahovo - Bozaj (part of the Adriatic-Ionian motorway )
- Autoput Andrijevica - Čakor
