Transverse sinuses

The transverse sinus is one of the venous sinuses of the brain ( sinus of the dura mater ). It lies between two leaves of the dura mater ( dura mater ) on either side at the base of the cerebellar tent to the petrous pyramid. The sinus of the dura mater lacks a typical vein walls muscle layer. The flow of blood are made through the sigmoid sinus into the internal jugular vein. The transverse sinus has occasionally on anatomical variations. It can be applied asymmetric or one-sided.

The sinus transversus thrombosis (blood clots ) is a thrombotic occlusion of the venous sinus transversus with potential Stauungsblutung into brain parenchyma. The sinus thrombosis is a relatively rare but dreaded cause of infarcts ( strokes ) of the brain. You are responsible for 1 % of all strokes.
