Transversus thoracis muscle

The musculus transversus thoracis (Latin for " querer chest muscle ") is a human inconstant, striated muscle, which assists the chest wall and braced during exhalation.

The origins of the muscle at the xiphoid ( xiphoid process ) of the breastbone ( sternum) and the cartilaginous part ( cartilage costal ) of ( 6 bis) 7th rib. The approach of the muscle is located on the costal cartilage of the 2nd to the 6th rib.

The transversus thoracis is innervated by the anterior branches of the spinal nerves of the chest portion of the spinal cord. The internal thoracic artery and vein pierce the transversus thoracis and then run on the outside.
