Tras Honan

Tras Honan (birth name: Tras Barlow, born January 4, 1930 in Dublin ) is a former Irish Fianna Fáil politician.

Biography

Tras Honan worked as a housewife and businesswoman after school education at St. Leo 's Convent in Carlow and the Mercy Convent in Clonmel. She was Dermot " Derry " Honan married me, who was from 1965 to 1973 Senator. Her father-in TV Honan was representing the Fianna Fáil between 1934-1954 also a member of the Senate.

In 1977 she was elected as a candidate of the Fianna Fáil for the first time a member of the Senate ( Seanad Eireann ) and represented in this until 1992, the Group's interests in public administration and social services, the so-called Administrative Panel.

On 13 May 1982 she was Cathaoirleach and therefore President of the Senate for the first time. This position she held until the election defeat of Fianna Fáil on March 8, 1983, was then up to the April 13, 1987 Vice-President of the Senate ( Leas Cathaoirleach ).

She was most recently on April 25, 1987 to October 31, 1989 again Cathaoirleach. In 1992, she failed in a renewed bid for the Senate.

Her younger sister, Caroline " Carrie " Acheson was between 1981 and February 1982 Members of the lower house ( Dáil Éireann ) for the constituency of Tipperary South.
