Travčice

Travčice ( German Trabschitz, also Drabschitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located six kilometers south-east of Litoměřice and belongs to Okres Litoměřice.

Geography

The village is linkselbisch on the northern edge of the forest area Travčický les. To the west runs the Eger and to the east of the Elbe. To the south of the training area in Travčický les rises the Mrchový Kopec (211 m).

Neighboring towns are Počaply in the north, Křešice in the northeast, Nučničky in the east, in the southeast Libotenice, Oleško in the south, and Hrdly nad Ohri Bohušovice in the southwest, west and Terezín in České Kopisty in the northwest.

History

Travčice was first documented in the year 1239th The associated with the possession of the Benedictine Breunau village was originally located on the Eger.

Because of the fortifications in Theresienstadt, the place was evicted in 1782 and rebuilt in the southeast. In 1800 was erected in a regular cruciform village of 20 houses, the center of which was the Holy Trinity Church. At the same time came to the church goods of Počaply the settlement Zádušníky, also on the residents of the evacuated town built new houses. At the same time the inhabitants were left to parcels in the Elbdünen for afforestation as compensation for their lost property. This created the Trabschitzer forest, which exists because of the sandy soils mainly of modest trees, such as pines and locust. The Bewohnerner living from agriculture, which dominated the vegetable. By 1880, the population grew to 420, living in 70 houses. Parish and school location was Počaply. 1930, the village had 500 inhabitants mostly Czech and consisted of nearly 100 houses. During the 20th century Zádušníky Travčice and grew together into one unit. During the First World War was created in Trabschitzer Forest a POW camp, which was converted to military site later.

After the Second World War was on the southern outskirts of the village a larger sand pit in which the setting of the degradation greenhouses were built for vegetable growing. During this time the village was also a cultural center, which enjoys over local significance because of its large hall.

Community structure

The municipality consists of the villages Travčice Nučničky (small Nutschnitz ) and Travčice ( Trabschitz ), at the same time also form Katastralbezirke. To Travčice also the local situation Zádušníky heard ( Saduschnik ).
