Trdelník

A Trdelník is a traditional pastry that comes from Skalica in Slovakia. It has the form of a roll, as it is baked on sticks. Topped it is by dusting with sugar and Nussraspeln.

History

In the 18th century, the came into retirement Count József Gvadányi one a cook from Transylvania. This brought the recipe that is similar to the Hungarian Kürtőskalács and represents a kind of tree cake with Skalica.

The end of 2004, the club was founded Skalický trdelník, this stands up for the right production of the pastry.

Production

The dough is rolled up on the bars, and coated with sugar and Nussraspeln. Then it is placed on an open fire pit. After the pastry has cooled, it is cut into slices.
