Treasure Hunt (UK game show)

Puzzles flight was the German version of the French television show La Chasse aux trésors of the former station Antenne 2, in which it came to solve three encrypted puzzles, which led to a "treasure", which was to be found from an outside reporter by helicopter within a certain time. Inventor of the mission was the French television and radio journalist Jacques Antoine.

Content

A candidate pair, each a man and a woman (usually a couple) had to decipher three riddles within 45 minutes. To this end, they directed an away team consisting of reporter, cameraman (mostly Jean-Yves ), camera assistants (mostly: Bruno; uncommon: Francis or Serge ) and pilot, which was traveling with a helicopter for which they have no visual connection but only ( more or less good ) radio contact had.

The puzzles were texts from the expert Elsa Manet - passed in the broadcasting studio of antenna 2 in a sealed envelope to the moderator Rudolf Rohlinger - who participated in the French version La chasse aux trésors. As soon as he opened the envelope, ran out of time. The candidates were to solve the tasks only specially prepared maps, books, guides and brochures are available. As a reward they received DM 1,000 for the first 2,000 DM for the second and DM 3,000 for the third puzzle, ie a maximum of 6,000 German marks in total.

Production

The program was in charge of the South German Radio (SDR ) and Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR ) produced. Swiss Television (SF DRS ) acted as co-producer, while the Télé Union Paris ( TUP ) had the licensing rights to the series and has. The plan was to first 13 episodes, the tasks, locations, camera people and pilots were largely taken from the French original by antenna 2.

For technical reasons the consignment was indeed produced under " live " conditions, but nevertheless completely recorded because the realization was anything but straightforward. For this reason, the format was inexpensive adopted by the Parisian colleagues of "Antenna 2" and all 13 episodes produced in parallel in German and in French. These included the opening credits, the credits and the studio establishment of the French original. The studio recordings and pictures of the away teams were then subsequently mounted to finished program.

The cameraman of foreign teams or its assistant camera led to a portable video recorder with him on which the images were recorded that were never broadcast live to the studio. In addition, in each region in each case a telephone connection was established, in which case usually via a portable duplex VHF radio system, the signal from the studio in Paris to the reporter on the spot and forward has been reversed. It is precisely to the non-European destinations broke voice communications over again completely, so that the records were broken and partly resumed until the next day.

The respective outer reporter and his team laid the large distances generally back by helicopter. But since you could not always directly landing at the destination, often had to be made on foot several hundred meters. Therefore, from the outdoor team sports fitness was required and the reporter always dressed in a red jumpsuit. In most cases, a cameraman and his assistant also rose with and put the required distances on foot. However, depending on the difficulty of the terrain remained this with their heavy equipment occasionally in the helicopter and filmed the scenes with the actions of foreign reporter from the air.

The "treasures" themselves were specially before the game recording placed by the editorial articles or contract work on site. The consequences were much influenced by the fact that at that time there were no satellite technology, by means of which all players could be simplified, the shipment would have on the other hand also taken the stimulus. Therefore, a large part of each consignment consisted of asking the reporter outside Günther Jauch and Bernhard Russi, who came alternately used where they are and what they see or do.

Criticism

In Germany, the format was so badly received that it is the subject of open derision - was reinstated and after the 13 planned and produced shows - "Puzzles fear of flying ." Thus, the proponents of the format enthusiastic for a time his action-packed entertainment show, the opponents, however, demanded that the helicopter pilots to withdraw the license to fly, because they had partially breached the applicable aviation security provisions.

Similarly, some candidates have expressed criticism of the show because they kept some tasks for finding the three wanted "treasures" within the allotted 45 minutes in some very large dimensions search area for almost impossible. In fact, were some "treasure sites " so far away from a possible heliport that the outside reporters and cameramen had very long distances on foot or, for example, even by horse to travel in order to achieve this at all in a reasonable time.
