Treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle (1668)

The First Aachen in Aachen peace was concluded on 2 May 1668 and undertook ended the War of Devolution between France and Spain. He was mediated by the triple alliance of England, the Republic of the Seven United Netherlands and Sweden at a congress in Aachen.

Louis XIV had to issue again in the peace Franche-Comte and the other conquered country (Spanish Netherlands). He was awarded a number of fortified places in Flanders and Hainaut, such as Lille, Charleroi, Tournai and Oudenaarde.
