Treaty of Fort Meigs

Called The Treaty of Fort Meigs, also contract from the foot of the rapids, was born on September 29, 1817 between the warriors and chiefs of the Wyandot, Seneca, Lenni Lenape, Shawnee, Potawatomi, Ottawa and Chippewa Indians and the United States of America closed.

With this last contract, the Indian tribes of the Ohiotals came from the remains of their home in the United States, which divided the land through an auction to white settlers.

In fact, the majority of the area was already long inhabited by white settlers, but as the country officially belonged to the Indian Territory, there was no civil administration and there was anarchy and barbarism among the white population.
