Treaty of Fredrikshamn

The Treaty of Fredrikshamn ( swedish Freden i Fredrikshamn finn Haminan rauha ) ended the Russo- Swedish war between Russia and Sweden. He was (now Hamina ) closed on 17 September 1809 in Fredrikshamn.

Sweden joined Finland, the Åland Islands and parts of Lapland and Västerbotten in Russia from which the autonomous Grand Duchy of Finland formed from these areas with its own administration under the rule of the Russian Tsar. A curiosity of the Contract is the division of only 0.03 km ² island Märket which still exists today.

The Treaty of Fredrikshamn is known in German also under the names of Fredrikshamn and peace Treaty of Hamina.
