Treaty of Gerstungen

The Peace of Gerstungen was completed on February 2, 1074 in the castle Gerstungen on the Werra. He put the King Henry IV on the reinstatement of the Duke Otto of Northeim in the Duchy of Bavaria. The latter had successfully found in 1073 at the head of the revolt of the Saxons. King Henry IV was forced to flee from the besieged Harzburg and humbly agree to the demanded in Gerstungen razing his castles in the resin, including, for example, the located in Bad Sachsa and only 1070 built Saxony castle.

Since all upper German dukes resisted the restoration of the North pail, Otto was deprived of his office in Bavaria. Henceforth, Otto was still a dangerous opponent of the king and his former subordinates in Bavaria.
