Trelissick Garden

Trelissick Garden is a garden in Cornwall with subtropical vegetation, and Far Eastern. The garden is situated in Feock, a district of Truro, approximately 4 miles north of the town of Falmouth Fal River above and the Carrick Roads. Its area is about 10 hectares. The Cornish name means House of Trelissicks Klanführers.

The Garden

In contrast to the few miles southwest lying Trebah Gardens and Trelissick Glendurgan is not a ravine garden, but has the character of a landscape park. The garden consists of two parts, which are intersected by a narrow road that leads to the car ferry across the Fal. Be connected the two parts of the garden by a small wooden bridge. History

The English porcelain factory Antin Ida Copeland inherited Trelissick 1937. Between 1937 and 1955, who converted the original landscape park, so that the garden was given a more subtropical and Far Eastern character. In 1955 the Copeland Trelissick National Trust, which made ​​it accessible to the public and in the following years expanded the planting and altered transferred. It has also been paid to a planting of late-flowering rhododendrons and hydrangeas, to extend the flowering period.
