Trichocyst

Trichozysten are thread-like, filled with secretion protein sticks in ciliates, dinoflagellates and Raphidophyceae. These can be explosively ejected for defense or to catch prey, reaching her eight times its original length. After a Trichozyste was once expelled, they can no longer be used. It will be replaced by other Trichozysten. Trichozysten have, among other things Zuckgänschen ( Litonotus cygnus) and paramecium.
