Tricky (musician)
Tricky ( born January 27, 1968 in Bristol, England, real name: Adrian Thaw ) is a British musician and film artists. Tricky is one of the main protagonists of the trip-hop movement, though he himself rejects this genre designation.
Biography
His childhood and youth were marked by the absence of a father ( he never learned to know this ), and the suicide of the mother, as Adrian Thaw was four years old. After his mother Maxine Quaye named Tricky later, his first solo album.
Tricky worked as a guest musician friend of mine on the first two albums of the Bristol band Massive Attack, but was never officially to the band. In 1994 he separated from the group and started a solo career. In 1995 he published together with Martina Topley -Bird released his first solo album Maxinquaye, which was a bestseller and to date is considered a milestone and a pioneering album of trip-hop. With his sudden international fame and the subsequent media attention to Tricky found it difficult to make friends. So he expresses himself in interviews and in his songs Tricky Kid For Real or critical of journalism and music industry.
His musical oeuvre is not unique to one type of music. After Maxinquaye he experimented on later albums, with music styles like reggae, rock and hip -hop. However, he never was able to build on the success of his first- - neither in terms of sales, yet in view of the feedback provided by the criticism. His eleventh album Vulnerable tends tions skirt, although it still has the typical features of Tricky sounds. In July 2008, a studio album was released titled Knowle West Boy on the record label Domino. Knowle West is the name of the neighborhood of Bristol, where he grew up. In December 2009, Tricky has published together with the Dub Collective South Rakkas Crew Meets an album called Tricky South Rakkas Crew at Domino. In May 2013 he released his latest album, False Idols, on the Tricky with artists such as Peter Silberman ( The Antlers ) and Nneka worked.
As an actor you can in the Luc Besson film The Fifth Element see him on the side of villain Gary Oldman. In other films ( Go Now, Clean) he embodied always himself in 2005 he was seen on American television in the series Girlfriends in several episodes as the leader of a band. In 2008 he made his directorial debut Brown published Punk in which he also plays along and in the soundtrack of bands Trickys record label Brown find themselves punk.
