Triolet

Triolett called a poetic verse form, which was probably invented in France.

The Triolett consists of eight lines each with eight or nine syllables, the first verse are identical or slightly modified as the fourth and seventh line returns; the second verse is then repeated in the eighth final line. Difficult especially in German is that only two rhymes can occur in it. It is particularly suitable for the Tändelnde and Naive.

Actually, originally from France, this verse form was popular in the 18th century by German Romantics. Representatives are next Hagedorn Gleim (1719-1803) and Schlegel ( 1767-1845 ).
