Trip Hawkins

William M. ' Trip' Hawkins III ( born December 28, 1953 in Pasadena, California) is an American entrepreneur and game developers. He is the founder of Electronic Arts, the 3DO Company and Digital Chocolate.

Biography

Hawkins was the Director of Strategy and Marketing at Apple in 1982, when he founded Electronic Arts (EA). Under Hawkins, the company grew to become the world's largest game developer and publisher. Even after the separation at the tip through 2008, the merger of Activision and Vivendi Universal Games to Activision Blizzard, the company founded by Hawkins continues to be one of the most successful computer game publishers.

1991 Hawkins handed over the management of EA Larry Probst. Although he was still chairman of the board, he founded the same year 3DO, where he served as CEO. As 3DO went bankrupt in 2003, Hawkins founded a new software company called Digital Chocolate. The company primarily developed mobile phone games.

2005 Hawkins was admitted as the eighth person in the Hall of Fame of the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences.

He lives with his third wife and four children in San Mateo, California.
