Trolox is a water soluble vitamin E derivative having the chemical name 6 -hydroxy-2 ,5,7,8 - tetramethylchroman - 2-carboxylic acid. The compound has a chiral center at the C2 carbon atom.

Use

Due to its strong antioxidant activity of Trolox is used as a reference in the determination of the antioxidant capacity of a sample ( TEAC test).
