The Trotus in Romania
The Trotus [ trotuʃ ] (Hungarian Tatros ) is a right tributary of the Siret in eastern Transylvania in Romania.
River course
In Munţii Ciucului Mountains - a mountain range of the Eastern Carpathians - stems from the Trotus in the east of Harghita County, northeast of the city Miercurea Ciuc ( Csíkszereda ) near the village Fagetel.
In the north of Ciucului Mountains of Trotus flows in a northerly direction, after which he in Bacau county in south-east the mountain ranges Ciucului and Tarcăului, in the historical region of Moldavia (Moldova ), separates near the community Ghimes - Făget. It flows through the towns Comăneşti, Oneşti and south of Adjud in Vrancea County it flows into the Seret River.
By Trotus Valley also leads the National Road (drum National) DN 12A. In Oneşti the Trotus is dammed with the 6.90 m high Priza Trotus Dam.
