Truck Stop (band)

Truck Stop is a German country band from Seevetal mesh ( district of Harburg ), south of Hamburg. The name comes from the English, where it means " truck rest area " and is a popular subject of much Trucker songs of country music.
History
The Truck Stop group was founded in 1973 in Hamburg. She next starred English-speaking country, rock and roll and blues and released four albums. The founding members are:
- Günter " Cisco " Berndt ( born December 12, 1942 in Hamburg)
- Burkhard " Lucius," Reichling ( born March 8, 1947 in Berlin, † August 14, 2012 in Hamburg)
- Rainer Bach ( born December 14, 1947 in Bielefeld)
- Erich Doll ( born July 31, 1948 in Kolbenmoor )
- Wolfgang " Teddy" Ibing ( born August 10, 1948 in Bergen at the Stupid )
- Eckart Hofmann ( born 1943 in Kisdorf )
Despite television appearances, like in the music store, the albums sold progressively worse, after a change of style was decided. They agreed on the priority country in German language. To give the exchange musically expression, Hofmann was replaced on sax by Berndt on acoustic guitar. Berndt's part as a bass player, Rudolf "stamp" Steinmetz.
Career
Joe Menke produced with the German country band initially a demo tape in his Maschener recording studio and presented it unsuccessfully several record companies. Telefunken finally offered the group in 1973 to a record deal. The first LP Truck Stop from 1973 still contained English-language titles and has sold 50,000 copies. Besides Menke served as sound engineer Volker Heintzen. This situation should be the most important of the group and put the foundation for the lasting success of Truck Stop. The 1974 recorded LP Can not Stop Truck Stop was in English. Menke brought the group then in 1977 with the idea to present German -speaking country music. Result was the LP home ( August 1977, published in October 1977), were implemented by the 150,000 copies. For reinforcement for text composition and Klaus -Dieter Eckardt and Holger Grabowski were engaged. First hit single from this was The woman with the strap ( September 1977 Rank 27 on the German charts ). More like commercial LPs on axis (June- July 1978, published October 1978), Say cheese ( October 1979), Truck Stop ( October 1980, sold 100,000 copies) followed. In the LP on axis was replaced on bass Rudolf Steinmetz from today's bassist Uwe Lost. At this time also came the Dane Nils Tuxen to the group, which he supported with pedal steel guitar and dobro. A gold record there for I want so much to Dave Dudley hör'n, the 1978 Rank 9 of the German single charts in April reached and came from the LP home. On March 17, 1979 Truckstop took Take it easy old house on the German preliminary decision to Euro Vision Song Contest (2nd place). In the second- biggest hit single of the group The Wild Wild West ( April 1980 Rank 5 ) comes Menkes recording studio before the chorus:

1983 Rainer Bach left the group and was replaced by Knut Bewersdorff (born 27 April 1960 Stade ). 2003 retired from Erich Doll and was Dirk beat ( * April 21, 1971 in Gifhorn ) replaced. Burkhard " Lucius," Reichling died on 14 August 2012 at the age of 65 from the effects of pneumonia and a late-stage cancer. The founding member of Cisco Bernd retired after 40 years of health reasons from the band. He played his last concert on 21 December 2013.
Menkes producer role in the band ended in 1995, when he retired with 70 years of work in the studio. His longtime sound engineer Volker Heintzen took over this position until 2013. This is now the VOX sound studio Bendestorf had built, in which in May 1995, the Truck Stop LP - No. 1 was added ..

- From Truckstop comes the title song to the TV show Großstadtrevier (composed by Uwe Lost / Text CDEckardt )
- Truck Stop supporting musical the title Mesh Wire Fence (1999) by Stefan Raab.
- The Lower Saxony State Theatre Hannover presented in the Cumberland 's Gallery from December 2001 to 2008 a truck -stop evening. Under the title The woman becomes more beautiful with every glass of beer itself is the actor Fabian Gerhardt deals with the poetry and music of the group. Since 2009, the performances will take place in the theater at the kitchen garden in Hanover.
