Trymalium

Trymalium odoratissimum

Trymalium is a genus of the family of the buckthorn family ( Rhamnaceae ). It is native to Australia and comprises 14 species.

Description

Trymalium are evergreen, mostly unreinforced shrubs. The alternate arranged leaves are flat or rolled on its edge.

The stalked flowers grow in grape-like cymes or panicles narrow. A flower cups is missing or only very briefly, the disc is annular or is clearly lobed. The fruits are fruit decay and disintegrate often irregular in part fruits, which open or not.

Distribution and systematics

Trymalium are native to Western Australia. The genus was first described in 1837 by Eduard Fenzl, within the buckthorn plants it is classified in the tribe Pomaderreae. The genus includes 14 species.
