Tsuneo Niijima

Tsuneo Niijima (Japanese新 岛 恒 男, Tsuneo Niijima, * 1955) is a Japanese amateur astronomer and discoverer of asteroids.

He discovered from 1986 to 1995 a total of 32 asteroids, the majority of whom work together with Takeshi Urata. Along with this he discovered on October 30, 1986, the period comets 112P/Urata-Niijima

The asteroid ( 5507 ) Niijima was named after him.
