Tsuyoshi Ogata

Tsuyoshi Ogata (Japanese尾 方 刚, Tsuyoshi Ogata, born May 11, 1973 in Kumano, Hiroshima Prefecture) is a Japanese long- distance runner who specializes in the marathon.

In 1999 he finished 30th place at the World Half Marathon Championships in Palermo. His first big success was in 2001, fourth place at the Berlin Marathon in 2:10:06 h 2002, he was second at the Fukuoka Marathon in 2:09:15 h and achieved his best time 1:01:50 h on the half marathon distance.

In a marathon, the World Athletics Championships 2003 in Paris / Saint- Denis, he finished twelfth place in 2:10:39 h in sixth of the Fukuoka Marathon in the same year he presented his personal best of 2:08:37 h, and a year later he won at the same place in 2:09:10 h

At the World Championships in Helsinki in 2005 he won bronze in 2:11:16 hours behind Jaouad Gharib (MAR ) and Christopher Isengwe (TAN ). Even in the heat of the 2007 World Championships Marathon in Osaka, until it was just before the end so as if he could turn gain bronze, but he was beaten Röthlin and eventually became fifth. His countrymen Satoshi Ōsaki and Toshinari Suwa occupied the next two places, so the team gold went to Japan.

Ogata is 1,65 m tall and weighs 50 kg.
