Geography
Geographical location
Tuningen situated on the Baar, an area between the Black Forest and the Swabian Alb in the west to the east.
Neighboring communities
Tuningen bordered to the north by the districts of Mühlhausen and Weigheim the county town of Villingen- Schwenningen, in the east on the Trossinger district shura and to the communities Durchhausen and Talheim and in the south and west by the districts Sunthausen and Hochemmingen the spa town of Bad Durrheim.
Climate
Easy subcooled bracing climate, constant light wind, average 1650 hours of sunshine a year.
Community structure
The municipality includes the village Tuningen Tuningen and the courts Birkenhof, Erlenhof, Haldenhof, Lindenhof, hole Rain, Upper Mill, gentle meadows and Lower Mill.
The municipality is located Tuningens the disposed village Kalkhof. East of Tuningen is the Schänzle, which is to be interpreted as Celtic Viereckschanze.
History
Tuningen was mentioned in the year 797 in a deed of the monastery of St. Gallen for the first time. As of 1813, the village belonged to the upper office Tuttlingen, from 1934, the district Tuttlingen was. Since the district reform in 1973 Tuningen part of the Schwarzwald- Baar-Kreis.
Religions
In addition to a Protestant and a Roman Catholic church there is also a civil parish in Tuningen the Methodists.
Population Development
In 1876 Tuningen had 1642 inhabitants and was thus to Tuttlingen and Trossingen the third largest municipality in the Upper Office Tuttlingen.

Culture and sights
Museums
The Tuninger Heritage Museum was inaugurated on March 23, 1997 as part of the 1200 - year celebration. The exhibition will provide insight into the life and the everyday life of Tuninger of yore. The museum is open every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month from 14.00-17.00 clock opened ( January to May and October to December).

Sports
The sports club Tuningen eV was founded in 1920 under the name Football Club Teutonia Tuningen 1920. Then took place on August 2, 1947, a re- creation rather than under the name of sports club Tuningen.
Economy and infrastructure
Traffic
Tuningen is in the cross state road 523 ( Tuttlingen - Villingen -Schwenningen ) and Federal Highway 81 (Würzburg - Gottmadingen ) and has its own exit ( No. 36). The public transport ensures the transport association Schwarzwald- Baar.
Education
Tuningen has a primary and secondary school with Werkrealschule. For the youngest inhabitants made a municipal and an evangelical kindergarten.
The folk high school Tuningen represents a branch of the community college Villingen -Schwenningen represents the management of the school is taken over by Mrs. Barbara Groh since 1987. About 25-30 courses and events are offered each semester. These take place in the premises of the primary and secondary school, the local kindergarten, and in the sports hall.
