Tuomas Kantelinen

Tuomas Kantelinen ( born September 22, 1969 in Kankaanpää ) is a Finnish composer and musician.

Life

Tuomas Kantelinen studied from 1988 to 1996 at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, inter alia, Eero Hämeenniemi. And even before he graduated, he composed film music for several short films and documentaries. Already with Salvation, one of his first movies, he won the Finnish Film Awards Jussi for Best Film Music. With Rukajärven tie he won his second Jussi and Aleksis Kiven elämä and Mosku - lajinsa each viimeinen another nomination. He had with the internationally award-winning Finnish-Swedish drama for which he won the best mother in 2006, a nomination for Best Original Score at the European Film Awards His biggest international success.

Together with the Finnish writer Paavo Haavikko he wrote about the Finnish athletes Paavo Nurmi an opera, which was performed after 2.7 million marks production costs in August 2000 in front of over 20,000 spectators at the Olympic Stadium Helsinki for the first time.
