Turbinicarpus horripilus is a flowering plant in the genus Turbinicarpus from the cactus family ( Cactaceae ). The specific epithet horripilus means, with bristling hair, shaggy, bristling porcupine '.

Description

Turbinicarpus horripilus often grows with olive clumping, spherical to extended spherical bodies and fibrous roots. The body can reach growth height 7-18 cm and a diameter of 4 to 6.5 cm. Her distinctly pronounced conical protuberances are 5-7 millimeters high. It is usually a single, projecting, straight, whitish, darker at the tip center spine present. It reaches a length of 12-18 millimeters. The 12 to 14 straight radial spines are white with dark tip, spreading and 9 to 11 millimeters long.

The magenta -colored flowers have a white throat. They are 2.2 to 3.1 cm long and have diameters of 2.5 to 3.5 centimeters. The elongated, greenish red fruits are yellowish brown at maturity. They are 4-6 mm long and reach a diameter of 3 to 5 millimeters.
