Turin Cathedral

The Turin Cathedral ( Italian: Duomo di Torino) is dedicated to John the Baptist ( Cattedrale di San Giovanni Battista ). He is the main church of the Archdiocese of Turin, Turin Cathedral.

History

The church was built from 1491 to 1498, the corresponding Campanile, dates back to 1470. Chapel of the Turin grave cloth was added from 1668 to 1694.

Equipment

The organ was built in 1874 by Giacomo Vegezzi Bossi, and changed over the years 1901 to 1902 by the same. The instrument is set to stage the singer on the epistle side of the altar, in a monumental housing that had been built by Benedetto Antegnati (Brescia), and previously hosted several instruments. The cathedral organ was extensively restored in 1972, with some registers have been added. The instrument has a total of 59 stops on two manuals and pedal. In the manual works a total of 15 registers in the bass and treble side are separately registrable. The tracker action are mechanical.
