Turkish Airlines Flight 278

Turkish Airlines Flight 278 was a flight accident of a Boeing 737-400 of Turkish Airlines on 29 December 1994. The aircraft was on a scheduled flight from Ankara to Van. After the first landing attempt was aborted in Van, the plane crashed into the second attempted landing on the runway 03 due to poor visibility and snow against a 1,700 meter high mountain. In the accident, five of the seven crew members and 52 of the 69 passengers were killed.
