Turks and Caicos Islands national football team

The national football team of the Turks and Caicos Islands is the national football team of the British overseas territory of the Turks and Caicos Islands.

The most famous player of the team is Gavin Glinton, who plays at the ĐPM Nam Định in the V- League, the top division in Vietnamese football.

History

The first competitive matches of the national team of the Turks and Caicos Islands were held as part of the qualification for the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2000. The team had to compete in the Group 1 against the national teams of the Bahamas and the U.S. Virgin Islands. In Nassau, they lost the first match against the Bahamas 0-3, two days later it held to a 2-2 draw against the United States Virgin Islands, which the last place in the group and so that meant leaving.

The qualification for the FIFA World Cup 2002 in South Korea and Japan began for the Turks and Caicos Islands on 18 March 2000 in a 0-8 defeat against St. Kitts and Nevis. The second game in Group 2 on March 21 went again with 0:6 against St. Kitts and Nevis lost. Thus, the Turks and Caicos Islands were eliminated after two games without even having scored a goal.

For the Soccer World Cup 2006 in Germany, the national team did not qualify as well. In the first round of the Caribbean zone is subject to the selection Haiti with 0:5 and 0:2 in Miami viewers before each 3000.

After they had not participated in the CONCACAF Gold Cup tournaments in 2002, 2003 and 2005, the national team in 2007 came to the CONCACAF Gold Cup in Group E qualifying against Cuba, the Bahamas and the Cayman Islands. Against Cuba lost the selection in La Habana with 0:6. On 4 September 2006, the national team of the Turks and Caicos islands could finally celebrate the first international victory of their history - they defeated the Cayman Islands 2-0. The final group game against the Bahamas finally went but with 2:3 lost, which had the third place in the standings and off to qualify for the result.

As part of the qualification for the World Cup 2010 in South Africa, the team met in the first round of the CONCACAF region on the national team of St. Lucia. The first leg on February 6, 2008 in Providenciales (Turks and Caicos ) won the Turks and Caicos Islands 2-1. Scorers for the country were David Lowery and Gavin Glinton. The return match on March 26, 2008, but lost 2-0. Therefore, the team was eliminated from the qualification.

In the first preliminary round of the CONCACAF World Cup qualifying for the tournament in Brazil in 2014 to hit the Bahamas and dropped out after two defeats from clear.
