Turtle River (North Dakota)

The Turtle River is a tributary of the Red River of the North in the northeast of the U.S. state of North Dakota. On almost its entire length, it flows in Grand Forks County. About the Red River, the Lake Winnipeg and the Nelson River, it is part of the catchment area of the Hudson Bay.

Run

The Turtle River rises in two branches, North Branch with a source area to the east of Nelson County and South Branch. The two arms come together in the city of Larimore. The river flows in a meandering past mainly in an easterly direction through the Turtle River State Park and at the Grand Forks Air Force Base. The last part of its course it turns north and flows through the city Manvel, before he briefly Minnesota leads above Oslo, in the Red River of the North.
