Tuscola is a small town and the administrative seat of Douglas County in the eastern part of the U.S. state of Illinois. In 2000, Tuscola had 4448 inhabitants.

Geography

Clinton is located at 39 ° 47'52 " north latitude and 88 ° 16'54 " west longitude. The city covers more than 5.5 square kilometers, which consist exclusively of land area.

History

At its founding in 1868 OC Hackett was elected by one vote against WB Ervin to Head of Tuscola Township. Hackett maintained a plantation with Sassafrasbäumen that was known long before establishment of the Douglas County in 1884 under the name of Hackett 's Run. Hackett's father, John Hackett settled in 1835 in the neighboring Coles County.
