Twine

A cord (French Cordelle, " short" or " thin rope " ) is a multi- threads, which are themselves already twisted, plied zusammengezwirntes which may be made of cotton, silk or rayon, partly of precious metal.

A cord is the extent related to the rope, but is shorter and is manufactured materials usually from other ( more valuable ).
