Tyler Zeller

Tyler Paul Zeller ( born January 17, 1990 in Visalia, California) is an American professional basketball player who stands at the Cleveland Cavaliers under contract.

College career

He spent four years at UNC, where he was able to establish itself in the second year as a starter. In his last year he was voted player of the year in his conference. Because of these and other awards his jersey can hang with the end of his college time under the roof of the hall Dean Smith Center. During his college years, he scored an average of 12.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 0.7 steals and 1.1 blocks. After the 2011/12 season he signed up for the NBA Draft in 2012.

NBA

In the Draft, he was selected to 17 out of the Dallas Mavericks and transferred to Cleveland on the same evening. Zeller initially started from the bench. After the injury to starting center Anderson Varejao, Zeller moved up into the starting lineup. He started in 55 of 77 games, scoring 7.9 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. After the season, he was appointed to the NBA All - Rookie Second Team.

Others

Zeller has two brothers who are also basketball. His older brother Luke Zeller played in 2013 for the Phoenix Suns. His younger brother, Cody Zeller was selected at the 2013 NBA Draft by the Charlotte Bobcats in 4th place.
