Typhlosole

A Typhlosolis (from gr τυφλός - blind and σωλήνας - tube / channel ) is a fold of the intestinal wall that sticks out into the bowel lumen. Typhlosolen come, for example, in molluscs ( mollusks ), land-dwelling annelids ( Annelida ), isopods ( Isopoda ) and lampreys before. In addition to improving food intake by increasing the total surface area of the intestine, the Typhlosolis can also take on other functions, this corresponds to the Typhlosolis in lampreys as education center of white blood cells functionally part of the spleen of higher vertebrates.
