History

1987-1992

After Dirk Udo Schneider had separated from Accept in 1987, he called his own band to life. Together with the two former Warlock musicians Peter Szigeti and Frank Rittel and former Gravestone and Sinner guitarist Mathias "Don" Dieth and Thomas Franke he presented shortly after the separation, the new cast. Rittel and Szigetti but did not stay long in the band and make themselves after a short time with Coracko independently. As a substitute Andy Susemihl and Dieter Rubach came to UDO

The debut album Animal House was released the same year. The songs were written entirely by Udo's former band Accept. After a European tour Rubach and Franke left the band. For them, bassist Thomas Smuszynski and former Running Wild drummer Stefan Schwarzmann came to the band. With this lineup, the 1989 album Mean Machine was published. So they came into the charts for the first time. On their England tour, the band acted as support for Ozzy Osbourne.

For the third album Faceless World, the band undertook Udo's former bandmate, ex -Accept drummer Stefan Kaufmann as producers. Susemihl was briefly replaced by wolla Böhm on guitar. To date, Faceless World UDO is the best selling album. Shortly after the Faceless World Tour suffered the fumes strongly Dirk Schneider a heart attack. Despite this, the fourth, again produced by Kaufmann album Time Bomb appeared a year later. The band broke up after the tour for this paper. After re- isolation of Accept published in 1996 UDO a cover version of Judas -Priest- Metal Gods songs for the tribute sampler Legends of Metal. Besides Dirk Schneider guitarist Mathias Dieth were as "Guest" and drummer Stefan Schwarzmann back of the party. Was complemented by the band Casanova bassist Michael Voss and rhythm guitarist Stefan Kaufmann.

The comeback followed in 1997 with the album Solid. Dieth anyway was no longer available and also Voss made ​​for the guitarist Jürgen Graf and bassist Fitty Vienna Hold space. A European tour with Random, Black Shine and M-Force followed in the autumn of the same year. Appeared in 1998 with No Limits another album of the band. With the song I'm a Rebel, the album contains a remake of an old classic Accept. As a new guitarist got in the former guitarist Igor Gianola Gotthard tour for Jürgen Graf. Drummer Stefan Schwarzmann left the band and was replaced by Lorenzo Milani. 1999 appeared " HOLY ". In 2000 toured U.D.O. with Saxon by the United States. After the live album Live from Russia, the band started to work on Man and Machine, which contains the song Dancing with an Angel, a duet with Doro Pesch.

Published in 2011 U.D.O. a new album titled Rev -Raptor. It was released on 20 May 2011 at AFM Records. The first single Leatherhead was published on 8 April 2011. On September 13, 2012 announced the band that Stefan Kaufmann has to leave the band for health reasons.

Four months later, the Russian guitarist Andrey Smirnov was announced as a replacement of a merchant in January 2013, two weeks later, the second guitarist Igor Gianola left the band and the Finn Kasperi Heikkinen came to UDO
