U.S.D. Cavese 1919

The Società Sportiva Cavese 1919 is an Italian football club based in Cava de ' Tirreni (SA) in Campania. In the 2009/10 season, the club plays in Lega Pro Prima Divisione.

History

The club was founded in 1919 under the name Unione Sportiva Cavese. In order to provide a more powerful team, the club merged three years later with local rivals Libertas Sporting Club. In the following season the club first participated in the southern group of the Italian championship. After three years in the excellence of the club in 1925 withdrew because of financial problems.

In the following years the team played for a long time only unterklassig. 1974 merged the club, who played now in its series D, with the league rivals per Salerno and called itself Pro Cavese. In 1978 the rise in the C series of the 1981 club was promoted to Serie B in 1983 and stood briefly before returning to the excellence, as even the AC Milan at the Giuseppe Meazza stadium was defeated, but the season could end only the sixth place in the standings show. In the following season was no longer able to build on the success and the club was relegated to Serie C1.

In 1991, the club went bankrupt and started in the regional leagues. From there we went up again in 2006, the club returned back to Serie C1.

Is world famous, sung by the Cavese fans singing " Dale Cavese ", which was copied by numerous fan groups (Austria Salzburg, 1 FSV Mainz 05 are just a few examples).
