UAE (abbreviation for Unix Amiga Emulator or Ubiquitous Amiga Emulator, formerly self-deprecating Unusable Amiga Emulator) is a complete software emulator for all the offered by Commodore International "classic " Amiga series ( A500/A2000/A1200/A4000/etc models. ), provides disk emulation and support OCS, ECS and AGA.
Minor versions for Unix derivatives such as FreeBSD and Unix -like operating systems such as Linux versions exist, among other things for Android, iOS, BlackBerry, PlayStation Portable, Xbox, Wii, Dreamcast / Dingoo, BeOS / ZETA / Haiku, MS- DOS, Mac OS, RISC OS but also for MorphOS, AROS and AmigaOS itself, for example, an Amiga 500 on to emulate an AmigaOne or Pegasos.
For Windows, a special variant called WinUAE has been developed on the basis of UAE. WinUAE is the most actively developed version of UAE. Fellow
Fellow is a software emulator of the Amiga 500 with some features of other models (eg ECS blits, 68010 -, 68020 - and 68030-based CPUs) and hard disk emulation. The emulator is written in Watcom C ( DOS) and Windows ( WinFellow ), Linux ( XFellow ) and Mac OS ( MacFellow ) ported. Most of the original Amiga machine functions are emulated. Fellow is compared to UAE quite fast and can be used on systems with low processing power as the 486. Was launched in the emulator by the Norwegian programmer Petter show. The latest official version for DOS (The Fellow Project 0.3.6R1 ) was published by Torsten Giebl and Dominik Schmidt and contains some speed hacks and an integrated Cheater module. Porting to Windows ( WinFellow ) some parts of the fast assembler routines in C were translated. The development of WinFellow was set in 2005, but was revived in 2010 with a new compatibility release for Windows 7 and Windows Vista. The development of XFellow has been closed since 2003.
Amithlon
Amithlon is a commercial virtual machine that emulates a number Amiga computers. Amithlon includes an integrated JIT compiler, is based on a Linux kernel and accesses to specific x86 drivers, which bypass the 68k emulation. For graphics cards, SCSI and ATAPI disks can be directly addressed under AmigaOS 3.x, resulting in a significant speed increase with it. Owes its name to the software of a merger of the words Amiga and Athlon.
