UARFCN

The UTRA Absolute Radio Frequency Channel Number, UARFCN short, is a whole number which is calculated from the transmission frequency of a UMTS support. UTRA stands for UMTS Terrestrial Radio Access.

The main difference in GSM ARFCN is that within the UTRAN within the individual bands no fixed duplex spacing is required and therefore different UARFCN be used for uplink and downlink direction.

Within the mobile network, the UARFCN is used exclusively. The conversion to a transmit or receive frequency occurs only in the terminal or base station (NodeB ).

It is true and

The UARFCN is then calculated as follows:

Since the pitch of the channels in UMTS is 200 kHz, the factor of 5 has been chosen so that the UARFCN is an integral number.

Up - and downlink frequency is calculated from the UARFCN as follows:

In each band the values of this table are given for the parameters:

In Germany, the band I is used in FDD mode.
