Ubolratana District

Amphoe Ubol Ratana ( Thai: อำเภอ อุบลรัตน์ ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the province of Khon Kaen. Khon Kaen is located in the western part of Northeast Thailand, Isaan.

The county is named after Princess Ubol Ratana, the eldest daughter of King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX. ).

Geography

Phra Yuen borders seen from the north clockwise from the Amphoe Khao Suan Kwang Nam Phong, Mueang Khon Kaen, Ban Fang, Nong Phu Wiang Ruea and in the province of Khon Kaen as well as Amphoe Non Sang on in the province Nongbua Lamphu.

History

Ubol Ratana was born on August 20, 1974 initially as a sub-district ( King Amphoe ) was established by the three Tambon Khok Sung, Na Kham and Ban Dong were separated from Amphoe Nam Phong. On March 25, 1979 Ubol Ratana was promoted to a Amphoe.

Attractions

  • National Park Phu Kao - Phu Phan Kham ( อุทยานแห่งชาติ ภู เก้า - ภู พาน คำ ) - a total of 323 square kilometers, the park is located only partially in the district Ubol Ratana. He moves further to the north to the province Nongbua Lamphu into it. A large part of the park consists of dipterocarp trees whose leaves change color in early November.
  • Ubol - Ratana Dam ( เขื่อน อุบลรัตน์, pronunciation: [ kʉan Ubon Council ] - " Ubon Council Dam " ) - the reservoir plays an important role by generating electricity, fisheries, flood protection for the population in the county and during leisure time.

Management

Amphoe Ubol Ratana is divided into six communes ( tambon), which in turn in 68 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

Khuean Ubol Ratana ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล เขื่อน อุบลรัตน์ ) is a small town ( thesaban tambon) in the district, which covers parts of tambon Khuean Ubol Ratana.

In addition, there are six " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
