UD Salamanca

The Unión Deportiva Salamanca S.A.D. was a Spanish football club from the city of Salamanca. Recently the club played in the Segunda División.

History

The club was founded on 9 February 1923 under the name Unión Deportiva Española. Unión Deportiva Salamanca the current name borne by the club since January 16, 1932. In 1974, for the first time succeeded in promotion to the first division, where, led by coach José Luis García Traid, remained until 1981. This is also the most successful era of the club. Overall, the club played twelve seasons in the Spanish top flight, recently in 1998 /99. On 18 June 2013, the club announced his resolution for a creditors' meeting due to ongoing financial difficulties.
