Udone-shima

Udone -shima (Japanese鹈 渡 根 岛) is an uninhabited volcanic island in the Pacific Ocean. It belongs geographically to the archipelago of the Izu Islands and politically to the Japanese prefecture of Tokyo.

Udone -shima is located about 150 km south of Tokyo, halfway between Toshima and Niijima, of which she is around 5 km away. The island is about 1.5 km long, up to 550 m wide and has an area of ​​0.4 km ². It rises steeply from the ocean and reaches a height of 210 m above sea level. The island are upstream numerous small cliffs.

Despite their small size, the island was inhabited in the Meiji period. One operation sericulture. The island still has a shrine.
