UE Sant Andreu

UE Sant Andreu is a Spanish football club based in the district of Sant Andreu de Palomar from the Catalan metropolis Barcelona. The association founded in 1909, currently playing in the Segunda División B.

History

The beginnings

Young people from Sant Andreu del Palomar, in the early 1909 two sports associations, which were called Zeta and Andreuenc. On 8 October 1909, both joined together to Club de Fútbol Andreuenc. The first game after the merger closed on November 25, 1909 with a 2-0 win vs. Provençalenc. The club colors were red and white.

CF Andreuenc

In the 1909/10 season, the first in the club's history could immediately be won the championship in the second Catalan league. This success was 1917/18 are repeated, but they lost in a playoff Terrassa FC 0:3.

L' Avenc del Sports

In 1913, the club was founded in L' Avenc del sport. This name goes back to the Catalan national poet and writer Ignasi Iglésias, who was a good friend of club founder Lluís Montell. In the following years the club in the region could make a name and played among other things, against the big city rivals FC Barcelona and RCD Espanyol.

Unio Esportiva

On 14 June 1925, the merger of CF Andreuenc and L' Avenc del Sports was announced. The club was renamed Unio Esportiva Sant Andreu and reinforced by two other sports clubs. The cycling club Esport Ciclista Andreuenc and the athletics club Secció ATLETICA Vida joined the football department.

It should last until the season 1950/51 until the Catalans were represented in the Segunda División for the first time. In occupied with fabulous 32 team league could be reached immediately a good sixth place. Two years later, however, the club had to again take up the course in the third division.

It was not until 1969/70 managed to return to the now thinned to 20 teams Segunda División. Until 1977 the club played eight years in a row in League 2 in distance duel with FC Pontevedra and Cordoba CF, the Catalans finally had to admit defeat and descend by a defeat away at Calvo Sotelo. Later never managed to return to professional football. After several ups and downs UE Sant Andreu was passed in the fourth league. After the descent 2006/2007 from the Segunda División B succeeded Sant Andreu after a year of immediate revival.

Stadium

UE Sant Andreu plays in the Estadi Narcis Sala, which has a capacity of 15,000 spectators and the pitch measures 102 × 64 meters. The stadium was inaugurated on 19 March 1970.
